Gene Lente - Director of Regulatory Affairs

Gene is the Director of Regulatory Affairs at Praxnor Group, where he leads the development and integration of regulatory-aligned safeguards, security, and material control programs for advanced nuclear clients. He brings deep expertise in Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMCA), having served as a performance tester responsible for evaluating personnel and programs across all NMCA procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational readiness. Over the past three years, Gene has played a critical role in strengthening procedural reliability and supporting the secure stewardship of nuclear materials in alignment with federal standards.

Prior to this role, Gene served as the performance testing manager for the U.S. Department of Energy’s physical security program, where he oversaw comprehensive assessments of armed security police officers and ensured adherence to rigorous operational and safety requirements. He also served as a Pro-Force safety officer, reinforcing disciplined execution within high-consequence security environments.

Gene began his career with twelve years as a security officer, building a strong foundation in protective force operations, compliance culture, and frontline security execution. This progression—from operator to evaluator to program assessor—gives him a uniquely practical perspective on translating regulatory requirements into executable, defensible programs.

At Praxnor Group, Gene applies this experience to help clients navigate complex regulatory landscapes, ensuring their safeguards and security programs are not only compliant, but licensing-ready from the outset.

Outside of his professional work, Gene enjoys spending time with his family, keeping up with his twelve grandchildren and their activities, staying active in the gym five days a week, playing softball, and spending time outdoors.
